Who we are<\/strong>
Pilot Club of Manhattan is service organization that focuses on helping caregivers of those on the autism spectrum. The Club also assists a number of community organizations.<\/p>\n

Projects and Community Involvement<\/strong>
In 2005 we adopted the autism spectrum as our service focus. Our goal is to find ways to help families, caregivers and educators of children on the spectrum. We hosted an autism workshop for parents and educators for a number of years. In addition, the club donates autism spectrum related books and videos to the USD 383 (Manhattan-Ogden) lending library. These books are available through the school district for parents to check out. Pilot Club of Manhattan also provides funds to help autism teachers purchase incentives to use in the classroom with their students.<\/p>\n

Other areas of involvement within the community include cookie donations to the Red Cross Bloodmobile, batting and\/or bicycle helmets for area youth, and home delivered meals.\u00a0 We support the Flint Hills Summer Fun Camp, Manhattan Emergency Shelter, and the Manhattan Crisis Center.<\/p>\n

Membership<\/strong>

History<\/strong>
The Pilot Club of Manhattan was chartered in February 1963 and has been involved in a number of service projects since that time. The Pilot Club of Manhattan is in the Heartland District of Pilot International. Pilot International was founded in Macon, Georgia, in 1921. Brain-related disorders were adopted as the service focus in 1990 to promote awareness of brain-related disorders and to improve the lives of those affected through education, volunteer activities, financial support and research.<\/p>\n

Pilot International Mission Statement<\/strong>
Pilot International\u2019s mission is to influence positive change in communities throughout the world.\u00a0 To do this, we come together in friendship and service, focusing on encouraging brain safety and health and supporting those who care for others.<\/p>\n\n\n
